When it comes to the performance of your vehicle and the quality of your drive, nothing plays a bigger role than the engine. It’s the reason why you’re able to move your vehicle from destination to destination. Today’s technology has allowed manufacturer’s to push the envelope when it comes to engine design. From a flat six to the V, there are a variety of designs that drivers can choose from. But it’s because of these new, elaborate designs that consistent auto care has become more important than ever, and that’s where Silver Lakes Auto & Tire can help. Our ASE Certified technicians use state-of-the-art tools and service techniques to ensure your vehicle receives the high-quality auto care it needs. Whether it needs an oil change or a full rebuild, our team can handle any problem your engine may experience!
The engine is the heart of your vehicle, and it needs proper maintenance to consistently perform at its best. Although we recommend leaving any major services to our automotive professionals, there are still some simple tasks you can do. Wondering what some of these tasks are? Don’t worry, as the Silver Lakes team is here to help. Here are two things we recommend to ensure your engine is always operating at the level you expect it to!
When it comes to engine maintenance, this is one of the simplest tasks you can do. To inspect your motor oil, simply utilize the dipstick found next to the engine. After cleaning it of any old oil stains, insert it into the engine and pull it out. Inspect the oil on the dipstick for quality and check the level. Fresh and healthy oil should have a clear, amber color. If it takes on a darker, grainy appearance, that indicates the oil is worn out and it must be changed.
The level of the oil should be “Full” or between that and “Low” (indicator may vary based on what vehicle you have). If it’s at or below “Low,” you’ll need to add more oil. Please make sure you visit our shop for this, as we’ll know the proper amount of oil to add as well as the type of oil your vehicle requires.
For any other engine maintenance task, it’s important that you have it done regularly by our ASE Certified technicians! By following a consistent maintenance schedule, we’ll be able to monitor the condition of your engine and know when it needs auto care. During each service, we’ll typically replace timing belts, change the air filters, provide new motor oil, and more to ensure your engine is utilizing brand new parts and performing at its best!
