Join Our Family.
Ever since opening our doors in 1973, we have made a commitment to upholding employee trust and satisfaction. Our founder, Wally Garlock, raised two boys as he built and expanded the company, and this informed the most important principle of the Silver Lake Auto philosophy - that family comes first. We’ve built our culture around this, making the decision to not be open on weekends or major holidays. It’s our priority that employees have a work-life balance that allows them to enjoy time with family and friends.
Today we are family-owned and operated and we believe in treating our employees with that same level of respect. We provide continuous paid training and advancement opportunities to all who are committed to our customers and our mission. Our family background means there’s no corporate attitude here either. We’re a team and we work together to find creative solutions, not just bark orders. Plus from team cookouts to holiday and birthday parties, we also understand the value of blowing off some steam!
We don’t just want you to work for us, we want you to join our family. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, we want to invite you to stop by. Our four locations include Oconomowoc, North Lake, Brookfield and New Berlin, WI and we’re always looking to expand our talented teams. Simply fill in your information below to have us reach out to you. We don’t believe in a rigid and lengthy interview process, so instead, we give you the chance to tour the shop and get to know us a little better.
We are growth-minded and want our employees to grow with us, which is why we were awarded 2022 Best Workplaces from Ratchet and Wrench.

The SLAC Way
Fundamental #1
SLAC is Family
We care deeply and support one another.
This includes our clients and business partners.
We look for opportunities to make personal connections that make a difference.
Fundamental #2
We are an organization that finds solutions to problems, not complain about them.
Complaining about problems has no place in a high performing organization. We fix problems by focusing on solutions, not where to place blame. We use these situations to learn and improve our processes to reduce the likelihood of repeating the same mistake.
We get smarter by every problem encountered.
Fundamental #3
Do the right thing, even when no one is looking.
Henry Ford knew integrity was more than just words.
It’s an unwavering commitment to do the right thing in every action and decision we take.
Make decisions that build strong, trusting relationships.
Fundamental #4
Take Responsibility
Take what you don’t know and find a way to learn it.
There is no room for victims in a high-performance organization.
Fundamental #5
Be quick to ask, slow to judge.
Seek first to understand, there is always more to the story than you think.
Learn to ask questions and gather knowledge rather than jumping to conclusions.
